During his studies, he spent a year abroad at Louisiana State University. During his doctorate in the field of NMR spectroscopy (Dr. rer. nat., 1998), he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg and at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot (Israel). From 1999 to 2003, he continued his scientific work at the interface between physics, chemistry and biology at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at ETH Zurich.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Andreas Detken has always been fascinated not only by science and technology, but also by language. In 2003, he decided to combine his enthusiasm for both fields by becoming a patent attorney. He has been with Isler &amp; Pedrazzini AG since 2003. In 2006, he was admitted as a European Patent Attorney, and he has been registered as a Swiss Patent Attorney since in the corresponding register was established in 2011. In 2011 he became a partner of Isler &amp; Pedrazzini AG.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>His practice mainly focuses on mechanical engineering, medical technology, sensor technology, control technology, semiconductor technology, information and communication technology, and analytical chemistry. A further focus is the protection of computer software.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Andreas Detken not only has extensive experience in proceedings to obtain patents in the most important industrialized nations, but also regularly advises and represents clients in litigation proceedings concerning the validity and infringement of patents in Switzerland and abroad. In addition to patent law, he is also passionate about design law. He regularly advises start-ups on the development of their patent strategy.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Andreas Detken is particularly interested in helping to train the next generation of patent attorneys and shape the legal environment in Switzerland and Europe. For several years, he taught future patent attorneys as part of the basic training program of the CEIPI at the University of Strasbourg. Since 2014, Andreas Detken has been a member of the board of the Association of European and Swiss Patent Attorneys in Private Practice (VESPA).
